Crystal Healing

History

Crystals have a long and varied history. Talismans and amulets dating back to the beginnings of mankind often consisted of crystals and other organic materials. The oldest known amulets are of Baltic amber, some from as long as 30,000 years ago and amber beads were discovered in Britain from 10,000 years ago, the end of the last ice age. Jet was also commonly used for bracelets and necklaces that have been discovered in Paleolithic gravesites in Switzerland and Belgium. There have been malachite mines in Sinai since 4000 BC. There are historical references to the use of crystals in Ancient Sumerian, Egyptian and Greek texts where they were used in jewelry, make-up, and amulets which were believed to provide protection and health, both spiritual and physical.  Crystals and gemstones have played a part in all religions.  Even though amulets were banned by the Christian church in 355 AD, gemstones continued to be used in religious jewelry and artifacts and among the favorites seems to be sapphire and agate. During the Renaissance, there were numerous medical writings that touted the virtues of using precious and semi-precious stones in the treatment of certain illnesses. They were often used alongside herbal remedies. It is during this time that we begin to see scientific minds beginning to research the process of how crystals actually worked to facilitate healing.

Centuries later, although crystals were no longer used medicinally, gemstones still   held meaning. They were often worn during times of mourning and war and continue to be worn in jewelry in current times.  In the 1880’s, their use was once again seen being used in the alternative community and by the 1970’s and 1980’s, as the New Age culture emerged, there was an even more widespread upsurge in the use of crystals and gemstones for healing purposes. Using old traditions and channeled information, many books were published on the topic.  Currently, crystal therapies are no longer limited to religious and spiritual communities, but have become popular in mainstream healing communities.

How Does Crystal Healing Work?

Crystal Healing is based on the principles of both physics and metaphysics. Because of their internal crystalline lattice and network, crystals can absorb light and transmit light. They also have their own individual frequency and vibration which comes from their molecular composition. From the way they move and interact, these vibrations and energies work in benefiting and uplifting our mood, mind, and health in a manner unique to each person. Acting like a magnet, it can absorb the negative energies and welcome fresh vibes. When you place or hold a crystal over the body, it interacts with the body's chakras and promotes physical and mental wellness.

Crystals vibrate at the same pitch as humans and maximize the healing abilities we already have. Because of this comforting feeling, when you place a crystal on the body, it helps you connect better and feel at ease. Balancing crystals can also help match the misaligned energy levels.  (https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/life-style/health-fitness/home-remedies/the-science-behind-healing-crystals-explained/articleshow/70482968.cms)

Crystal Healing Sessions:

Like Reiki and Archangelic Light Sessions, Crystal healing sessions can take place in person and remotely.  For in person sessions, the client will be asked to lay down on his/her/their back.  The session will then follow the same steps of other healing sessions (add links) except that after the initial consultation about purpose and intention, the practitioner will select appropriate crystals and place them on the intuited locations (e.g. chakras, grid positions) before beginning to channeling energy /activating crystals.  After the agreed upon session length, the practitioner will remove the crystals before the post-healing discussion.
